After the resounding success of the 2024 Modernist Fair in Alcoy, where we had the pleasure of connecting with the community through our Pay-Pay brand, at Iberpapel , we are now preparing for the next big event on our calendar: the 2nd Rafa Valls Trophy.
The Modernist Fair allowed us to immerse ourselves in Alcoy’s cultural heritage, showcasing the historical evolution of rolling paper manufacturing through our stand. But now, looking ahead, we are embarking on a sports event that combines tradition and competition: the 2nd Rafa Valls Cyclocross Trophy – Fira de Tots Sants.
If you missed it, you can read all details of our contribution to the Modernist Fair in this article.
Next Stop: 2nd Rafa Valls Trophy
Now, with our sights set on the future, we are embarking on our next big initiative: the 2nd Rafa Valls Trophy, a cyclocross (CX) competition that will take place on November 30th in Cocentaina, and which we proudly sponsored last year with great success. We are proud to continue supporting local sporting events, especially being part of this prestigious trophy that brings together some of the best national and international cyclocross riders.
On October 11th, at the Centre Cultural El Teular in Cocentaina, the official presentation of the Trophy took place, attended by local and regional authorities along with the race’s organizer, Andrés Pascual, who revealed the race details and the goal of growing this competition within the national scene, with the ambition of turning it into a Spanish Cup.
We are thrilled to be part of this event again, not only for the sport itself but for what it represents: commitment, effort, and perseverance, values that we at Iberpapel fully share. If you want to learn more about our support for this trophy, we invite you to check out our previous news here, where we discussed last year’s edition and our collaboration with the Rafa Valls Cycling Club.
Cyclocross: A Demanding and Spectacular Challenge
Cyclocross (CX) is a cycling discipline that combines speed, technical skills, and endurance. Riders must tackle mixed terrain that includes mud, grass, sand, and obstacles, forcing them to dismount and run while carrying their bikes on their shoulders. This unique feature makes it a highly entertaining event and a true test for the most experienced cyclists.
The 2nd Rafa Valls Trophy, set to take place on November 30th in Cocentaina, will be one of the most important events in the Spanish cyclocross calendar. This C2 category competition attracts top national and international riders.
The circuit features a rectilinear design, with the most technical curves in the pit zone, and is filled with obstacles such as planks and sandbanks, guaranteeing maximum spectacle for attendees. The race not only provides a physical and technical challenge for the participants but also offers spectators a unique opportunity to enjoy a one-of-a-kind sports event.
During the trophy’s presentation on October 11th at the Centre Cultural El Teular in Cocentaina, the details of the race, the circuit, and future goals, such as turning it into a Spanish Cup, were revealed. The event’s organizer, Andrés Pascual, highlighted the ambition to expand this competition both nationally and internationally.
The Fira de Tots Sants and Support from Cocentaina’s Town Hall
The 2nd Rafa Valls Trophy is not only part of the cyclocross scene but also falls within the framework of one of the region’s most important events: the Fira de Tots Sants, a centuries-old fair that attracts thousands of visitors each year, representing the cultural and commercial richness of Cocentaina, and this year it will take place on November 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
Once again, the trophy has the unconditional support of the Town Hall of Cocentaina, presided over by Jordi Pla i Valor, who emphasized the importance of this sports event for the town during the trophy’s presentation. The Fira de Tots Sants is a showcase that not only highlights the region’s history but also demonstrates its ability to adapt to modern times and support initiatives that promote sports and tourism.
The collaboration between the Town Hall and the Rafa Valls Cycling Club reflects their commitment to promoting activities that not only energize Cocentaina’s cultural and sporting life but also generate positive economic impact for the region.
Iberpapel’s Commitment to Sports
At Iberpapel, we are incredibly proud to support these types of local initiatives. For this edition of the Rafa Valls Trophy, we have made two donations: one to cover the operational costs of the race and another to fund the official race kit for the cycling team. This action highlights our commitment to sports and to the values of effort and perseverance, which are perfectly embodied in cyclocross.
These projects perfectly reflect the balance between our connection to the past, as seen in the Modernist Fair, and our constant involvement in the future, as demonstrated by our sponsorship of the Rafa Valls Trophy. At Iberpapel, we value both our tradition and our ability to adapt and actively participate in the present, supporting local initiatives that promote sports, culture, and community well-being.
Our commitment goes beyond just producing high-quality products; we also strive to be present in projects that help build more united and active communities.
See You in Cocentaina
After our successful participation in the Modernist Fair, we feel ready and excited to continue supporting events like the 2nd Rafa Valls Trophy, which strengthen the ties between tradition and sports. We look forward to seeing you on November 30th in Cocentaina, where we’ll be supporting the cyclists and enjoying the great cyclocross event and the Fira de Tots Sants.
